Wohlhaupter UPA Boring and Facing Heads
      - branded "MSE" for some markets -

A detail Operation Manual is available
covering all the heads listed below

Starting life on October 1st, 1929, the Wohlhaupter Company was found by Emil Wohlhaupter as a small workshop in Stuttgart-Feuerbach where, in a small rented room, a service to recondition cutting and stamping tools was established. By 1936 a move had been made to a small factory and the first boring head, marketed as the "UPA", put on the market. Of universal appeal, the head was intended for use on all types of milling machine and, due to its accuracy, jig borers as well, By the 1950s the company were acknowledged as amongst the world leaders in the field and, during the 1960s to the 2000s, developed a range of tooling solutions to meet modern demands - details of these can be found on the company's web site.
Little changed over the last three decades, the boring and facing heads for use of conventional machine tools are still manufactured, though the range is now compressed from the previous nine versions, the UPA1 ,UPA 2, UPA 3, UPA 4, UPA 4-S5, UPA 5, UPA5-S-6, UPA 6 and UPA 6-S-7, to just three, the UPA3, UPA4 and UPA5 6).
The catalogue below giving details of the most common types to be found on the used market, the data for the now no-longer-made smallest and largest sizes, the UPA1, UPA2, UPA6 and UPA 6-S-7 being especially useful.
The heads have also been found branded "MSE" for the English and possibly other markets.
