      "Satfi" Watchmaker's Lathe
      Other Lathes for Watchmakers

Of unknown origin - could it be Portuguese? - the Satif watchmaker' lathe looks to have a been a close copy of a basic Lorch Geneva type - indeed, as so many slightly different versions of this 6 mm collet machine were made, it might, just possibly, have been a "badge-engineered" model, and so of German manufacture.
Of the usual, very simple, lightweight type with a round bed with a flat along one side it probably comes from the 1940s or early 1950s and may (if a copy) have been built merely to escape import duties. However, having managed to make the lathe, the maker then had had more trouble when confronted with the realities of making all the necessary collets and other essential accessories.
Other Lorch Geneva copies and re-branded examples included the English B.T.M., Australian Lanco, American Swartchild and Swiss Aero.

For comparison--a genuine Lorch Geneva watchmaker's lathe
